In our worship, we encounter God through the words of Holy Scripture, we receive Christ's Body and Blood in Holy Communion, and we are equipped to serve our brothers and sisters in the world.
We typically celebrate a service of Holy Eucharist (Holy Communion) with a sermon on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month and a service of Morning Prayer on the remaining Sundays. We follow the liturgy from the Episcopal Church's Book of Common Prayer, which is rooted in the ancient patterns of worship from the early church. We typically have organ-led music, though we suspended in-person singing during the pandemic.
All baptized, believing Christians regardless of church affiliation are welcome to receive communion. If for any reason you do not choose to receive, we invite you to come forward for a blessing. If you are curious about baptism, our priests would be delighted to speak with you.
No matter your background, you are welcome here!
For over 70 years, the Church of the Advent has hosted Christmas Day dinner for anyone in the community, feeding over 900 people each year.
We serve meals in the parish hall and also deliver to those who cannot come in person. As the event has grown, neighboring churches and others in Brookline and Beechview have now joined us!
Church of the Advent's facilities are busy throughout the week hosting community organizations such as Alcoholics Anonymous.
In order to best love our neighbor and protect the vulnerable, we have implemented the following changes in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope to revisit these as soon as it becomes feasible.
